Offroading weekend on the 350 Royal Enfield Trail Bike

Hi Dave,

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed my offroading weekend on the 350 Royal Enfield Trail Bike I rented from you on the 16th and 17th of May.I used the bike on the Sunday to follow this years Ilkley Classic Trial.The trial was spread over 75 miles of the Yorkshire countryside,and comprised of 22 sections.The Enfield attracted a lot of attention when I arrived at the start of the trial in Ilkley.Someone actually took a photo of the bike and put it up on the Ilkley Motorclub website.

The bike behaved perfectly all day and started virtually first kick every time.The course was on mainly backroads and farm tracks.The Enfield appeared to be in its element in these conditions and never put a foot wrong all day.While a lot of other bikes had to top up with petrol at Pateley Bridge,the Enfield covered the whole course on about half a tank of petrol.Interestingly enough it was a Royal Enfield trials bike very similar to mine, ridden by Ian Myers that eventually won Best Overall Solo Motorcycle of the trial.I had the pleasure of running for a while with Ian and Roger Tushingham.

I also bumped in to a famous tv presenter while following the trial.Tiff Needell, one of the presenters of the TV programme 5th Gear, had entered the sidecar class riding a Ural sidecar outfit.I followed Tiff for a few sections and the camera car following us took a lot of film of the Enfield.The programme is being televised on the 14th/15 of june so keep an eye out.

In conclusion Dave, I would like to say many thanks for providing me with the use of a very nice looking well prepared bike at a very reasonable cost.I am busy now planning my next trialling/greenlaning weekend in the Uk.With a bit of luck I might even get to ride in a trial.

I seriously hope that all my friends take the opportunity to travel to your wonderful country and experience the back-roads of Yorkshire as I have.
